Similar Artilces: Monitoring tool for ASE Hi guys, I know that sounds like crazy, but I would like to know if there is any monitoring tool for ASE that keeps a record of all queries that took more than X seconds to be executed? My problem right now is that I have a database that is being accessed by 3 systems at the same time, and users sometimes experience slowness on the systems, but in a random basis. And, unfortunately, this is a situation kinda hard to test in development environment specially because it can be a database problem, application problem or both.
Does anyone already had a situation like this? SFU also includes Perl 5. Can you specify what information do you expect from this tool? Regards, Peter T. KUMAR aa wrote Papertrail Real-time live tailing, searching, and troubleshooting for cloud applications and environments.

To conclude, databases are a critical component of your infrastructure, and hence they have to be monitored for availability and performance.
Which databases are imposing most load on the database server engine? How many processes are running, and what queries are they executing? Which user s are executing these queries? Lock Activity Monitoring What is the typical locking activity on each database?
Which processes are being blocked and by whom? Which are the root-blocker processes, and what queries are they executing? Are any deadlocks happening? Is any of the databases reaching capacity? Which of the databases is seeing more transaction activity?
How many active transactions are currently happening to each of the database server? How much memory is the server consuming and how much is it willing to consume? How much memory is used for connections, how much for locks, and how much for query optimizations?
What is the server's cache hit ratio? How many pages are available in the server's buffer pool? How many of these are free pages? Is Page life expectancy very low or are there many memory grants pending, indicating a memory shortage? Operating System Monitoring Is there sufficient disk capacity? Is there excessive contention for CPU or memory resources?
